Biking - Road Biking
The lower Champlain Valley encompasses nearly 2,000 square miles and provides some of the best cycling in Vermont. Our self-guided tours, designed for cyclists who want luggage transported between inns but have no need for a guide, provide 3 to 10 days of leisurely biking with accurate maps, augmented by written narrative directions and step-by-step cue sheets. Well-designed routes provide 20 to 40 miles of safe, moderate biking per day, or more if you prefer. Tours are fully customized to suit your preferences for daily mileage and terrain. Explore the charming villages of Brandon, Middlebury, Vergennes, Bristol, Shoreham, Addison, and Proctor. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the lakes and swimming holes along our routes. Visit museums and exhibits which present Vermont's fascinating history. And, enjoy the magnificent scenery all along the way.
Comfortable accommodations at unique country inns, including candlelit dinners and hearty breakfasts, round out the package. Occasionally, or if you prefer, accommodations may be at charming bed-and-breakfasts (B&Bs) giving you the opportunity to dine at whim at fine local restaurants. Trips start and end in "the Art and Soul of Vermont," the village of Brandon, where you will receive a personal review of your trip. Nights may be spent at the Churchill House Inn, Lilac Inn, Inn on Park Street, Inn at Baldwin Creek, Strong House Inn B&B , Swift House Inn, Barsen House Inn, Cornwall Orchards B&B , Shoreham Inn, Fox Creek Inn, Gazebo Inn B&B , or Rosebelles Victorian Inn B&B. The actual inns in your itinerary will depend on the distance you wish to ride each day, the starting date, and the availability at the inns.
